the price of happiness

I know everyone here is in different economic brackets, so I won't use specific numbers, but I'm in an interesting situation right now and I'd like to hear what you all think.

I was an odd-jobber just barely getting by doing the things that I love on my own schedule for four years. Two years ago, I got an in with a desk job that paid twice what I had ever made and I took it. I was completely miserable by the end of it. I've been back to the old odd-job model for a few months now and am loving my freedom and the satisfaction of jobs well done on custom projects that people are excited about me doing for them. I've just been offered a job that pays twice what the good-paying hell job paid (4x what I'm used to) and I'm pretty sure it would be more of the same.

TLDR: How much financial stability/upward mobility would it take to give up your happiness?

Whatchya listening to MOC?

Been listening to this a lot while MOC was down -- they toured with Joan of Arc apparently, and they've got that super midwest mathy nostalgic sound.

as ever:

Have you bought "cheap shit" that worked forever?

$100 Sony headphones last 3 years before all the plastic comes off the foam or the head band breaks or the wires inside the insulation near the plug wear out

But I've had a no-name CD player bought for $20 that's 15+ years old.  The lettering around the buttons has worn off but it works just fine.

Bought any Big Lots or Ollie's or thrift shop or "dollar store" items that have gone through the trenches and continued to work like a champ?

Also if you want to bitch about high-priced products that you want to warn people away from, rant on.

This guy has me shopping for dildos with which to peg him and they're fun to look at so I'm spreading the love. You know what to do. Post and I'll pick the perfect dildo for you like a sex toy matchmaker.

This one is me:

30+ MOCers only

Ok, so I know there a few of us on here. I have been away from MOC for a LONG time. I want to say ten years, but I have a feeling MOC hasnt even been around that long. I have recently found myself back here because I want some anonymous interaction. You know, wax philosophic and get all pedantic and shit. Anyway, Im feeling WAAAAAAAY out of touch lately. Its a bit confusing to me because Im getting this sort of sinking feeling that maybe I was always a little out of touch, I was just really good at fooling myself that everything was ok.
Meanwhile back in reality, everything was NOT ok.

I dunno, maybe Im being a bit melodramatic, but I feel like one of those people that is going to start whining about the "way things use to be" and "the good ole days". Fuck.

SHoot me now.
