if there isn't a topic on this, i think there should be…

it is common knowledge that most people who are brilliant, especially in artistic ways, also suffer from mental or mood disorders of one sort or another, we don't need to turn this into something about robin williams, even though he is an example, but has anyone else put any thought into this? it's often what makes a great performance - like when a musician is completely lost in the song (crazy people just seem to do it really well), but i digress, the original video I wanted to post under this thread is comedy, and you probably know Louis CK, but i think it is evident from this clip that he understands… the first part about kids and phones is alright, but then when he starts talking about feeling alone, etc… anyway, that was a long description of what i'd hope to see in this thread, examples of artistic brilliance in performances, music, comedy, whatever

and as an example of what i'm talking about on the musical side of things (we all know she's crazy):

Whatchya listening to MOC?

Been listening to this a lot while MOC was down -- they toured with Joan of Arc apparently, and they've got that super midwest mathy nostalgic sound.

as ever:

Movies that scared you as a kid

I was getting stoned with a bunch of people I met in portland a few weeks ago, and we were discussing films that scared us as a kid.

I don't know if any of you remember the movie "House" from 1986, but it fucked me up.

Roger Cobb is a Vietnam vet. Whose career as a horror novelist has taken a turn for the worse when his son Jimmy mysteriously disappears while visiting his aunt's house. Roger's search for Jimmy destroys his marriage and his writing career. The sudden death of his aunt brings Roger back to the house where his nightmares began. The evil zombies in the house force Roger to endure a harrowing journey into his past.

Also, has anyone seen "I Spit On Your Grave" (1978). I'm going to watch this for the first time today.

pet talk outside of photos; introducing pets

So here's the story:

There were two cats.  Docile homebody Maverick, and bouncing off the walls Percy.  Maverick was 5/6 years old when six month old Percy was introduced into his house.  Maverick was already living with an Australian Shepard for two years.  Percy grew up loving both of them.

Maverick just died recently and not until now did we realized just how much Percy relied on him.  They had more moments of playing/tussling and just walking past each other like neither existed so when they cleaned each other or slept near each other it made us excited.

For the past two weeks Percy cries/howls when we leave, in the middle of the night, at first sunlight- like he needs us awake to keep him company.

It's very odd having only one cat too, but we were feeling more for Percy being alone and he seemed like he was having more trouble coping.

So my wife shows up with a year old cat (SPCA said a year, he still seems tiny to me like 10/11 months) and the SPCA told her "here's how to introduce them etc."  My wife never wants to wait for anything and said "I don't have time to introduce them, let them get used to each other" and just dropped Cecil (the new boy) right in front of Percy.

Claws and fur didn't fly immediately, but it's more than obvious Percy is disturbed by someone in his house.

From the past 18 hours I could list every little hiss that has come out of Percy's mouth and how many times I squirted him with the spray bottle but I just need to know if anyone has just thrown two animals together (just read @plasticarmyman and @smmrbmmr's stories) and what'd you do/what happened.
